These crystals have the best , glassiest lustre you could ever want in a Tsumeb azurite and are ALL TRANSPARENT , GEMMY BLUE when backlit! The piece looks like it has blue glass glued to it....This is a remarkable specimen of large size and incredible condition, pristine on all major crystals. ex. Tom Hall Collection, purchased from dealer Rick Smith (in the 1970's). This is a truly fine display specimen of large size. Comes with custom-made lucite base.

SC-4 Azurite (SOLD)
Tsumeb, Namibia
ex. Stan Alexander, Dave Wilber, Keith Proctor collections
Small Cabinet, 8 x 7 x 5 cm

John Schneider photo

A complete floater specimen, chock-full of terminated blocky azurite crystals all around. The color is a vivid blue, not as dark as most Tsumeb azurite. It has a long history of being in famous collections including Stan Alexander, who sold to Dave Wilber in the early 1970s, who then sold it in the 1980's to Keith Proctor who held it until the Sussmans obtained it from him. It has one very clean repair at the bottom-right, otherwise it is pristine. This is a truly fine display specimen, as witnessed by the chain of owners over 30 years.

SC-57 Azurite (SOLD)
Tsumeb, Namibia
ex. Bill Smith Collection
Cabinet, 12 x 5 x 3 cm

This exceptional specimen features extremely sharp, glassy azurite crystals to 2 cm. Isolated crystals of this habit (or for that matter of any habit of azurite) are HIGHLY uncommon and are always treasured. This particular pocket produced very few fine specimens and I am told this was regarded as one of the finest, especially because of its size and pristine condition. This specimen has a long history: ex. musician James Horner to Wayne Thompson to Bill Smith, and eventually purchased by the Sussmans from Bill's collection.

SC-122 Azurite (SOLD)
Tsumeb, Namibia
early 1960s "Charlie Key pocket"
Large Miniature, 6 x 2 x 2 cm

This is an exceptional, pristine specimen from a famous pocket, nicknamed the "Charlie Key pocket" at the time because he brought most of the specimens out. Recovering this from some dark hole it had languished in for the last 40 years or so, the Sussmans obtained it just this January, to complete their suite of azurites from the famous Tsumeb pockets. It has a riveting, deep electric blue color and glassy lustre, but it is the symmetrical form that is most striking to me. Complete all around, too!

SC-94 Azurite altering to Malachite
Tsumeb, Namibia
Cabinet, 9 x 7 x 2 cm

A sharp, impressive specimen that is complete on BOTH sides, showing partial alteration of the body to chatoyant, velvety malachite but leaving all the sharp azurite terminations intact as blue islands sticking up from the green! EXCEPTIONAL contrast of colors, here! This piece has some history to it in recent years, changing hands from musician James Horner to Wayne Thompson, who sold it to dealer Stuart Wilensky some years ago for his own collection.

SC-94 Azurite (SOLD)
Tsumeb, Namibia
ex. Nauke Oechslin Collection
Miniature, 3.5 x 3.5 x 2.5 cm

John Schneider photo

A sharp, complete-all-around cluster of glassy azurite crystals that are unusually columnar in form. From the Nauke Oechslin Collection, purchased in Africa in the early 2000: a noted collection mentioned in Gebhard’s Tsumeb books.

SC-48 Azurite (SOLD)
Tsumeb, Namibia
ex. Betty Roberts collection
Miniature, 5.5 x 4.5 x 2.5 cm

John Schneider photo

A truly dramatic specimen with amazing geometry, composed of deep blue crystals that have riveting highlights even in normal lighting. It was a piece they obtained long ago from Betty Roberts before her death, and was quite treasured in the collection for this reasona s well as for its innate quality. Dramatic through the roof, and admittedly priced accordingly, but it is a smoker of a miniature!

SC-141 Azurite on Bayldonite (SOLD)
Tsumeb, Namibia
Miniature, 3.7 x 2.5 x 2.5 cm

A very interesting, and undoubtedly old specimen with the highly unusual color contrast of discrete azurite crystals perched in light-green bayldonite! NOTE: Would trim to an even more stunning thumbnail!

SC-34 Azurite on Dolomite (gem xls) (SOLD)
Tsumeb, Namibia
ex. Nauke Oechslin Collection
Large Miniature, 6.5 x 3 x 3 cm

John Schneider photo

WOW! I think the pics say it all for this one....this is one of the most dramatic azurite specimens I have ever seen or imagined. The crystals (to 2.5 cm) are PERFECT and stick straight up, perched on contrasting green-colored calcite matrix and superbly illustrating their crystallography! I have seen just 3 specimens of this habit for sale in my time, and all were priced way beyond me. From the Nauke Oechslin Collection, purchased in Africa in the early 2000: a noted collection mentioned in Gebhard’s Tsumeb books.

SC-22 Azurite on Anglesite
1994 Easter Pocket, 8th Level, Tsumeb, Namibia
ex. Mark Stumpy Rattay collection
Small Cabinet, 6 x 4 x 3.5 cm

John Schneider photo

This is an exceptional specimen from the famed Easter Pocket find, and a very rare example in that it is both a cluster, and on real matrix instead of on gossan or massive aszurite. It is complete on both sides, and has even better lustre in person!
