RUT276 - Cerussite - $2500
Tsumeb, Namibia
Small Cabinet, 6.8 x 4.5 x 3.2 cm

Sharp, very aesthetic large single crystal with just the right amount of matrix attached for visual balance. The luster is superb, and there are phantoms visible the length of the crystal. The lustre is just plain weird - it is shimmering, silky, and glistening all at once. In person, this is mind-blowing and supremely attractive for the combination of the symmetry and the shimmer - like a church tower made out of dragonfly wing. Combine all this with an incredible termination for the species, about the sharpest you can ask for, and you have a terrific Cerussite. Purchased from the Zweibels in 1976

RUT283 - Anglesite - $125 (SOLD)
Tsumeb, Namibia
Miniature, 4.5 x 2.7 x cm

Not often do you find tabular crystals of Anglesite that are pseudo-rectangular, let alone ones that are water clear with such good luster. It is also a rare species for Tsumeb. The cluster itself is quite aesthetic with numerous crystals up to 2.1 cm, but with some terminations being perfectly flat and some stepped, you get even greater variety and heightened visual interest. Purchased from Bill Larson in 1976

RUT303 – Calcite - $175
Tsumeb, Namibia
Large Miniature, 6 x 4 x 3.5 cm

A superb, lustrous, very 3-dimensional specimen of the classic flattened rhombohedral calcite "discs" from Tsumeb! Each crystal has intricate detailling and patterning along the faces, making it glow in person with lots of light reflections off those planes. Purchased from the Zweibels in 1976

RUT306 - Tsumcorite - $750
Tsumeb, Namibia
Thumbnail, 1.2 x 1.2 x .7 cm

This is a beautiful and important specimen for the species, featuring exceptionally well-developed crystals of Tsumcorite that are up to 6 mm in length! The cluster is huge, for this style of tsumcorite. The crystals exhibit a color and definition on a scale that is rarely seen for the species. Not only do you have the spray in the middle of the specimen, but the orange-tan matrix on the left is really the scalloped surface of a radial cluster of acicular crystals as well. The whole ball on the left side, is a single radiating hemisphere of the stuff...with a spray of more freestanding crystals on what i call the front of the piece, perched against the upper tips of the spherical aggregate. Considering the rarity of this species, this is a remarkable specimen! Purchased from the Zweibels in 1976

RUT220 - Tsumcorite - $450
Tsumeb, Namibia
Thumbnail, 1.8 x 1.7 x 1.4 cm

Lovely thumbnail consisting of very fine acicular crystals of umber-yellow Tsumcorite . The needles exhibit both a radial growth and a vertical cluster habit not unlike what you see in some palms, and are superb in both color and habit. A very unusual and attractive thumbnail, very rich in display qualities as well, of this rarity.

RUT307 – Mottramite & Malachite - $95
Tsumeb, Namibia
Small Cabinet, 6.5 x 5 x 4.3 cm

A rich plate covered by velvety black-green Mottramite with aggregates atop of sharp microcrystals of malachite. These are accented with a few sharp crystals of Cerussite. Attractive, and quite a good combination piece. Purchased from the Zweibels in 1976

RUT308 – Brochantite & Conichalcite on Calcite - $95 (SOLD)
Tsumeb, Namibia
Toenail, 3.1 x 2.8 x 1.3 cm

This specimen is small in size but large in stature. The white Calcite matrix is liberally coated sharp acicular balls of light green Brochantite along with smaller spherical acicular Conichalcite that ranges from light to olive green. As a bonus, there is a tiny and gemmy dioptase crystal tucked in a small vug in the base. Such a an excellent specimen, no matter how you size it. Purchased from the Zweibels in 1976

RUT313 – Smithsonite with Cerussite - $1250
Tsumeb, Namibia
Miniature, 4.7 x 3.8 x 2.4 cm

If you look at almost anyone’s Tsumeb wish list, you would certainly find razor-sharp pink scalenodral Cobaltian Smithsonites (faintly pink, as the habit tends to be - they look more beige in pics). Elsewhere on the list you would also find a lustrous cyclic twin of Cerussite. Here we have a rich specimen with freestanding cobaltian smithsonite crystals of high translucency and good size (to 1.5 cm), with very sharp Cerussite twin (with only minor chatter on it) perched upon it! Super minaiture, and one of our favorites of the lot! BETTER IN PERSON. Purchased from the Zweibels in 1976

RUT316 - Ludlockite - $600
Tsumeb, Namibia
Small Thumbnail, 1 x .9 x .4 cm

Superb hair-like rust-colored crystals very attractively clustered on matrix. Ludlockite is extremely rare, making this quite the killer thumb, and visually impressive beyond its stature. Purchased from the Zweibels in 1976

RUT318 - Wulfenite - $600 (SOLD)
Tsumeb, Namibia
Small Miniature, 3.3 x 2.3 x .5 cm

Two large, very sharp Wulfenites that are included by some other minerals to give them this unusual, but very attractive, black color. The crystals themselves are gemmy and have a superb mirror-like luster. The luster is so good, in fact, that to try to show it on the main faces would have washed out the pic! This is a killer that is far better in person than even the pics convey. The crystals are transparent in the centers, by and large, so you can see the minute inclusions nicely when backlit (as shown). It is that good! Purchased from the Zweibels in 1976

RUT320 - Smithsonite - $125
Tsumeb, Namibia
Miniature, 4.7 x 3.4 x 3 cm

Attractive cluster clear, gemmy Smithsonite crystals, many of them doubly-terminated. The largest is about 2 cm, and some of the crystals have a lustrous black coating, which is really quite interesting and appealing. This is a very fine miniature, and better in person! Purchased from the Zweibels in 1976

RUT321 - Copper - $450
Tsumeb, Namibia
Miniature, 5.5 x 3.5 x 1.5 cm

Not often do you find Native Copper from Tsumeb! Speicmens are actually pretty rare for the locale, despite its richness as ore. This is an attractive specimen consisting of many very fine small cubic crystals as well as other habits including leaves and spinel twins. Purchased from the Zweibels in 1976

RUT322 - Mimetite - $850
Tsumeb, Namibia
Large Miniature, 6 x 4.4 x 3.6 cm

Lovely specimen consisting of numerous .6 cm crystals of Mimetite arranged in radial sprays. All the crystals have a very nice yellow color and absolutely superb luster. Naturally, the centers of sprays are contacted by their very nature. This is very aesthetic, and has to be seen to be really appreciated! It is possibly a pseudomorph after a rotund cerussite twin, as this habit of mimetite is associated with that well-known replacement at Tsumeb. Purchased from the Zweibels in 1976

RUT323 – Mottramite ps. Copper - $1250
Tsumeb, Namibia
Small Miniature, 3.1 x 1.2 x .2 cm

Exceptional pseudomorph of Mottramite after dendritic Copper, of such elegance that the pics say it all. There is one weak bit in the middle that has been stabilized with a small dot of glue in the past (i.e. it could be repaired, as well). Now, the piece can be left as is, which I think is best for the sheer drama, or clipped at the stabilization spot in the middle and turned into two phenomenal and unique thumbnails....either way, a killer! Purchased from the Zweibels in 1976

RUT337 - Rosasite - $650
Tsumeb, Namibia
Miniature, 5.6 x 3.4 x 2 cm

This great specimen consists of beautiful, extremely well-defined balls of Rosasite perched on perfectly contrasting white matrix of dolomite. It is striking and organic-looking! This is one of the more aesthetic Rosasite of this habit to come out on the market, i'd think! Purchased from the Zweibels in 1977

RUT358 – Tennanite ps. Azurite with Mimetite - $450
Tsumeb, Namibia
Miniature, 3.8 x 2.8 x 2 cm

This complete pseudomorph of Tennantite after Azurite not only maintains the original shape, but it is also coated with small crystals of malachite, Dolomite, and Mimetite for sparkling accents. This is a very rare and unusual occurance! It is also an extremely attractive example of this type. Purchased from the Zweibels in 1978

RUT359 – Cerussite (twinned) on Duftite - $450
Tsumeb, Namibia
Miniature, 4.3 x 4.3 x 4.3 cm

Let me start off by saying that this is a truly fabulous combination piece consisting of excellent examples of both species. The gemmy Cerussites all have excellent clarity and luster, and the largest is 3 cm in size and sharply twinned! The drusy Duftite matrix has excellent color and superb luster, as well. The large crystal is pristine save for one tiny ding in a crevasse on a back face. The large Cerussite twin is freestanding and complete all around, otherwise. The one contacted Cerussite (shown in the upper-right photo on the far right side of the piece) suffers very little for it and is trivial anyhow, as you can see in the other three display angles. A terrific specimen Purchased from the Zweibels in 1978.
