This group looks for all the world like mint green ice cream and the pocket is so nicknamed "Ice Cream Pocket". The calcite clusters are comprised of interlocking rhombs of cuprian rich calcite, in this case perched ON a druse of glistening white dolomite or white calcite. The contrast is subtle, between pastel hue and white, but it IS quite striking and unique. The copper content gives it a beautiful pastel green hue. RARE ONE POCKET FIND IN THE MID-1980's!

Unusual and very attractive combination piece with lustrous botryoidal Goethite coating sharp white Calcites. You can even see the Calcite rhombs outlined in the Goethite, which makes the specimen even more interesting and attractive. Often these are mislabelled as Heterogenite at 5x the price, so beware!

3605 - Aragonite var. "Nicholsonite" - $200
Tsumeb Mine, Namibia
SMALL CABINET, 5.9 x 2.8 x 2.4 cm

Very nice specimen of this rare mineral, the crystal sits aesthetically on matrix. The luster is good, and the color a very appealing soft yellow due to high nickel content (it is a tarnowitzite varietal though not quite a new species on its own). You don’t often see one this nice, visually! It is also complete all around save contact on the backside!

1581 - Duftite on Calcite- $250
Tsumeb Mine, Namibia
SMALL CABINET, 8.0 x 6.0 x 4.7 cm

You can’t imagine what a terrific specimen this is. The beautiful white rhombs of calcite have fine rippled surfaces that are so incredibly lustrous that they remind you of so many of the great etched beryls that you have seen over the years. Except now you have opaque and white, with the same mesmerizing mirror surfaces. Then you add the generous coating of well-defined individual Duftites, and you raise this specimen to even greater appeal! Individual sharp duftite crystals like this are uncommon for the species, as well.

This is an outstanding example of the complex ‘fanned’ rhombs that are occasionally seen, but rarely available. The luster of these Calcites is excellent, and the clarity is superb. You rarely see Tsumeb Calcites this clear, and the quality is consistent throughout the whole piece. It is so good, in fact, that there are only perhaps two minor contacts among the actually crystals. This is a killer Tsumeb specimen, and a killer Calcite, to boot.
